Even after becoming a mother myself, I find that when getting dressed for Mother’s Day Brunch I often gravitate towards items in my closet that I know my own mother would like. Out of respect, admiration, and love comes my desire to please and impress her.
As a southern lady, I imagine that I am not alone in this sentiment. With this in mind, I put together five Mother’s Day Brunch looks inspired by classic styles that compliment a modern mom’s lifestyle.

A floral print blouse paired with a feminine, Donna Reed inspired skirt is the perfect tribute to your mother. I chose this digital, pastel print shirt by Hunter Bell for its spit-up friendly poly fabrication (looks like silk) and the ivory Rachel Antonoff midi skirt for added length and more room to move while chasing the little one(s).

What better way to brighten up a room than with a bold pop of color? It is a day of celebration. This Rachel Roy dress in a vibrant coral hue exudes happiness and confidence. The ruched details hide post baby belly troubles and the soft jersey knit is cool and comfortable. I added the lightweight White + Warren popover cardi in turquoise and the yellow Prada handbag to create a fresh spring color combo.

Many of us new mamas are children of the ‘80s. We remember our mother’s in walking shorts and headbands with sweaters tied around their necks. I paired this Julie Brown seersucker shirtdress with a classic white cardigan by White + Warren and a vintage pink woven belt to pay homage to the ‘80s prepster mama. Easily dressed up with heels or down with casual sandals, a shirtdress is perfect for a modern mom. Throw washable seersucker into the mix and you can’t go wrong!

Paired together, this Rachel Roy pencil skirt and matching print blouse create a modern take on classic and sophisticated silhouettes. The skirt, made of a cotton and elastane blend, allows for easy fabric care and ample stretch to move about (something pencil skirts often lack). The blouse has a billowy feel that can later be worn un-tucked for an easy, breezy summer day with the kiddos.
