About the Founders
They say that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ and in Morgan Hutchinson’s case, that certainly rings true. After becoming a mother for the first time, she soon discovered that her wardrobe needed a refresh. She scoured online shops, high-end boutiques and big box stores for wardrobe essentials that offered easy access in washable fabrics, with little success. So, with the help of her husband and now full-time business partner, Brett—Morgan embarked on a mission in the name of fashion.
With Brett’s help on the financial front, Morgan put her former styling and lingerie designer experience to use as they founded BURU. Through several evolutions, the company has hit her stride with Morgan exclusively designing every collection. And while 50% of the production remains overseas to offer an attainable price point, 50% is now produced in BURU's very own DTLA factory that Morgan and Brett built one sewing machine at a time. Morgan believes that once a mother—always a mother. Her designs are meant to transcend generations, seasons and all phases of motherhood. Because after all, what woman doesn't love when comfort, washability and style collide? Oh—and did we mention...she adores adding pockets.
